Reconstructive Breast Surgery:
An integral part of treatment for breast cancer is reconstruction of the breast if mastectomy is required. A large part of a woman’s self-image depends on the presence and appearance of the breasts. Breast reconstruction can help lessen the psychological impact of mastectomy.
Breast reconstruction can be performed with an implant, or with a woman’s own natural tissue.
TRAM flap breast reconstruction is a procedure by which excess tissue from the abdomen is used to create a softer, more natural reconstructed breast than is possible with an implant.
If you require mastectomy for treatment of breast cancer, call to discuss the possibility of having reconstructive surgery at the time of mastectomy.
Even if you’ve had a mastectomy in the past, breast reconstruction can still be done in many cases.
